In July of 2009 Manhattan Restorations was contacted by The Billy Joel Organization requesting our expertise in conservation and restoration of several of Mr. Joel’s furnishings. The central focus of the project was based around an 1880’s walnut and mahogany bar. This wonderfully ornate bar consisted of a main body (bottom) wrap-around bar featuring inlaid marquetry of Indians separated by fluted walnut moldings.

           The entire bar broke down into seven main pieces: bottom base, top, back base, side base, back wall, side wall, and inside ceiling panels

           We quoted the job with three possibilities:

-Removing and replacing water damaged base moldings

-Removing entire base to be restored at Manhattan Restorations

-Disassembling the entire bar for complete restoration and

 conservation at Manhattan Restorations

         We were honored to receive approval by Mr. Joel who entrusted Manhattan Restorations to completely restore the entire project at our location in Easthampton, MA. We also restored several small furnishings and keepsakes for Mr. Joel. Upon delivery in September of the entire project, we were asked to stay on and restore several more furnishings at the home.
